Unit Training Camp 2008

A gentle reminder to all.The Unit Training Camp 2008 will be held from 29th Dec to 30th Dec 2008.Please fall in front of the kitchen by 0800 hours sharp.The packing list can be downloaded fromDownload Here.To add on,All campers are reminded that they are to attend the camp WITH their ID Tags of their respective barracks.On the second day,ALL campers are to wear their ROUND NECK VSNPCC Shirt for Land X.Have a good Xmas.

ATC tent pitching

All sec 1s pls read and memorise the logistics required for the atc tent, i will be testing you on the 1st training next year.

Logistics:
1) Horizontal Pole
2) 2x Vertical Pole
3) Inner Sheet
4) Outer Sheet
5) Ground Sheet
6) 15x Pegs
7) 12x 1.5m twine
2x 2.5m twine

Types and Functions of Knots

1) shortening (the purpose is to shorten the rope)

- Sheepshank (to shorten the twine by the distance you would want)
- Chainknot (used to tie your bootlaces)

2) Hitches (attaching rope to an object)

-clove hitch (to attach a twine to a pole)

3) Bends(they are used to attach twine together)

-Sheetbend( to attach twines of different size)
-Reefknot( to attach twines of the same size )

4) Stopper Knot (prevent slipping or breaking)

-Thumbknot (self-explanatory)
-Figure of 8 (a bigger and more stable version of thumbknot)

5) Loops (loops are mainly used as hooks to hook stuff/ tie things)

-Bowline (mainly used for tent pitching)
-Slipknot (self-explainatory)

These will be the theory portion which will be tested for your campcraft badge. Know it well. Happy Christmas!

Banner Painting will be held from 15th Dec to 17th Dec 2008,Mon to Wed.Attendance is compulsory.Please bring along paintbrushes and LOTS of newspapers.You guys are to fall in by 8.45 AM sharp.Attire will be PT kit,Perferably Old PT kits as the PT Kits will most likely get stained with paint.

The Adventure Training Camp will be your first out-of-school NPCC camp held at Pulau Ubin.

The .22 Revolver Live Practice Shoot will probably be your first experience handling and firing a real-life firearm weapon.

NAPFA and Skills and Contct List

1) Napfa.

You guys had received your NAPFA results for the year of 2008. I would need these results and we would take some actions to help some of you guys.

We need them organised in a table format with gold/silver/bronze/fail
Please type it out and highlight the people who failed in RED

Thus, we need the squad to collect the data for me by the first training of december.
We will not pin point anyboady to take charge of this, but, someone please take up this leaderhip oppotunity and go collect the infomation.

2) SKILLS

We need a list of activites you guys are very good in.
Eg. chess, rubric cube, halo3, cycling.
Please do not give us crap, we would really like to explore what you guys are good at and then, we can make training more fun, so this list is very important

The bus will be departing at 1:55pm for the Waterways Watch Society of Singapore at Kallang Basin and will return by about 5pm.

There will a be a training on the 13 of June, Friday. You all will need to bring your full NPCC uniform.

This training will be important as I need to check your uniforms for road safety park and make sure that everyone knows how to wear. At the same time, I need to give out your formation signs.

There will be games included.

Everyone MUST be present. Outing with parents, tuition are not accepted as a excuse. Proper medical certificates must be given.

Road Safety Training for Sec 1 Squad

There is a compulsory Road Safety Training Session for Sec 1 Squad on 19 June 2008 230pm to 430pm.

Please keep this afternoon free. More details will be given at a later date. If your parents have already made holiday plans, please go ahead with your holiday, but I will need a letter from your parents stating that you are having an overseas vacation from which day to which day. This will allow me to reschedule you for another training session with NPCC HQ.

Attendance is compulsory and any absence must be accompanied with either Medical Certificate or Parents' Letter (for overseas holidays).

Presentation of UOPA Gold Award

We are very likely to present the UOPA Gold Award this Friday 18 April during morning assembly. If there is a call by Mr Maran for all NPCC cadets to stand to let the school knows who are the NPCC cadets, PLEASE STAND AND BE PROUD OF IT! DON'T BE SHY!

prior to the swearing in ceremony you will be required to fill up your NPCC CADET SERVICE SHEETS, an important document in your NPCC years ahead. This document requires you to know your own particulars (eg. NRIC, phone no.s, contact info, full name, etc) and also your parents' approval which will be discussed tmr. Hence, please ensure that your FULL squad turns up. THIS IS A COMPULSORY MEETING please excuse urself if u have other commitments.

SEC 1 SWEARING IN CEREMONY

Dear Sec 1 Squad,

14 April Monday is the Sec 1 Swearing In Ceremony to welcome all Sec 1 cadets in 6 NPCC Units to NPCC. Its a simple and short ceremony held at Bedok North Secondary School. A bus will be chartered to bring you to and fro the school.

Date: 14 April Monday

Time and Venue: Fall in outside NPCC Room to put your bags there at 315pm. Bus leaves VS at 330pm. Bus leaves Bedok North at 5pm. Reach VS at 530pm and dismissal at 530pm.

Attire: Full SCHOOL UNIFORM

Bring: A pen

If your teacher requires you to stay back in the afternoon for remedials or extra lessons, please inform your teacher that you are required to attend this compulsory event.

I will email all teachers regarding this event.

THE VENDOR IS COMING TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY 7 APRIL AT 2PM TO ALLOW ALL SEC 1 CADETS TO TAKE MEASUREMENT AND SELECT THE SIZE FOR YOUR UNIFORM. PLEASE MEET OUTSIDE NPCC ROOM AT 2PM SHARP. THE EXACT VENUE WILL BE INFORMED ON MONDAY.

To all Secondary 1s,

Challenge Unlimited Games Day is an annual event organised by Victoria School NPCC.
We invite other NPCC units to our campus and we play host as well as participate in a friendly competition of Basketball (Boys) and Captain's Ball (Girls).

All secondary 1 cadets are to help out with the hosting of the competition.
This would include you to:
- Usher
- Decorate
- Manual Labour

There will be Muster Parade this Friday. All Sec 1 cadets are to place their bags inside the NPCC room and attend the parade. The Orientation Camp will begin after the parade.
